HLN ON TRACK WITH MEETING GRANT OBJECTIVES

HLN submitted its biannual report to the CA Endowment in June, updating the grantor on progress toward meeting grant objectives:

  • Increasing access to fresh foods by Facilitating Farm-to-School programs in three school districts, promoting Farmers' Markets and contracting with the Farm Bureau to develop an online ordering system.
  • Colleclting data about CATCH and other physical activities in schools.
  • Working with its Health Policy Cabinet to extend healthy vending machine options on county properties.
  • Continuing its efforts to expand community activities at school sites.

CATCH TRAINING RECRUITMENT

Coordinated Approach to Child Health (CATCH) is a nationally-acclaimed program designed to make it very easy for teachers, food service directors, and administrators to incorporate nutrition and activity components into school environments. 

HLN and the California Endowment will sponsor a CATCH Booster Training from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Kelseyville High School Cafetorium on Thursday, August 12, 2010.  Teacher stipends and curriculum kits will be available for each school site represented.
