Much of the information required to produce a Lake County Local Food Guide was gathered as part of a community food survey conducted during the fall of 2009. ACTIVE LIVING CATCH: HLN plans to sponsor a second CATCH training for school administrators, teachers and food service directors in August 2010. The Coordinated Approach to Child Health (CATCH) incorporates physical activities and healthy food choices into curriculum standards for children from preschool through grade 8. CATCH classroom tools include a card file of simple physical exercises and nutrition-oriented activities that only take a few minutes in between other lessons. 'EAT SMART' is a component of the CATCH program that provides information about how to plan, purchase, prepare and promote healthy menus as well as ways to coordinate classroom nutrition education and health messages with teachers, parents, administrators and the community. If you would like more iinformation about this FREE training or to register for the August 2010 training, please email hlnassistant@sbcglobal.net or call Jackie at 274-2459. |
